As players grow and develop, they become more prone to getting hurt if they don't know how to protect themselves from injury. Burlington Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) is partnering with Burlington High School (BHS) to offer a free injury prevention educational session for parents and in-person clinics for players in grades 3-8 (U9-U14). All of the sessions will be conducted by BHS Head Athletic Trainer Kelly Melville.
Online Parent Educational Session
The Parent Session will take place on Monday March 10, 2025 at 7:30pm via Zoom. The session will cover topics such as:
- Injury Prevention
- Injury Recognition
- Multiple sport/activity strain
- When to see MD, Urgent Care, ED, Ortho, Podiatrist
- Footwear
- Resources
- Overuse/Sport Specialization

In-Person Clinics for Players in Grades 3-8
We're also pleased to offer a free one hour Injury Prevention Clinic for players in the U9-U14 age range (grades 3-8). There are two sessions:
Wednesday, March 12th, 6-7pm

Thursday, March 13th, 6-7pm

The clinics will teach dynamic stretching and movement as well as some basics of injury prevention. Topics and activities include:
- Self-care, Sleep, Nutrition, Soreness vs. Injury
- Dynamic stretching
- Reaction time drills
- Balance
- Strength
