CLUB CREATION
The Burlington Soccer Academy (BSA) was established in the fall of 2018 to offer Burlington Youth Soccer players the opportunity to receive a higher level of training and skill development through club league play, in addition to the soccer travel program. BSA teams play in the New England Club Soccer League and have the benefits of licensed coaching, a reduced cost, and shorter commute than other club teams.
The club is designed to be a stepping stone for young players just entering the club/travel system through the U11 or U12 age group. After that time, we encourage players to progress onto bigger clubs with more resources, and prepare for the competitive level of high school soccer.
PRIMARY GOALS
- To provide higher level training under licensed coaches for players looking to become more skilled
- Provide Burlington families with a local mid-range alternative to other soccer clubs that may be more expensive and/or farther away
- Continue to develop Burlington players within our soccer community
TRYOUTS
BSA typically conducts tryouts each Spring for the following playing year (Fall - Spring). Information on tryouts will be posted to this page and announced ahead of the sessions.
TEAM COMPOSITION
Players are selected through either tryouts or invitation. Selection is based on a number of criteria: current ability, potential, commitment level, and coachability. Input is given from all BSA staff at club meetings but the coach of each team has the final say on player offers for the coming year.
Teams are built around grade year, with the exception of August birthdays, who typically play with the grade below them per the age distribution dictated by US soccer (8/1 - 7/31). In some cases, this may mean that a player is playing on a larger field for the BYSA Travel program vs. a smaller field for their BSA team.
COMMITMENTS
BSA expects that players will be committed to the team and schedule. BSA teams practice twice per week and have games on Sundays during the Fall and Spring seasons. Winter events may be offered depending on coach availability.
Players must also be enrolled in Burlington Youth Soccer Travel Program to be eligible for BSA and attend Travel Team practices (1 team practice per week) and games (on Saturdays). Our goal is to supplement the Youth Travel program, not take players away from it.
